Faith 03:26
I kept all my troubles far from you, but water rushed in dark in cold, and I couldn't seem to plug the holes. And I lost my love to the wild blue waves, lost at sea never coming home, California was better alone. Cause I'm not enough for anyone I know. I never learned how to find faith. I never learned to believe in anything. I carried the burdens for all my time, but I never got the balance right. and we just came apart that night when everything I loved fell from my hands. I should've known you would go away with the lights of a summer parade. Cause I'm not enough for anyone I know. I never learned how to find faith. I never learned to believe in anything. I'm not enough for anyone I know. I never learned how to find faith. I never learned to believe in anything. I'm on my own, I'm stumbling through the fire. I'm all alone, and this house in burning down. I'm on my own in this house with these walls burning to the ground. I'm not enough for anyone I know. I never learned how to find faith. I never learned to believe in anything.

Landlocked 02:28
Light me up, and watch me burn from the inside Why don't you carve me up and let me bleed for a while? Stitch me up with a little black thread, and sew your scar into my skin. Are you alright? You haven't said a word tonight. Hang me out, you know I worried all the time. And what if I let you burn and never came home? What would you do without my love to hold you up? Are you alright? You're dressed like you're leaving tonight. Why don't you stay? You know they never change, now don't they? Are you alright? Are you really rushing out? Why don't you stay, and we can bury it all for the last time? "Someday we'll drive the 101 on a California night." It was a promise I made on the bedroom floor that I always wish I kept. I know you were lonely all the time and looking for a ride. Well, I'da driven you across the whole damn world. Honey, I'da drove you through the night.

Denver 04:11
I think this time we barely felt the poison. We were comfortable with knowing we were dying. And I was begging you not to run away to Denver. Can't you see it brought about the end in me? And I heard she was looking for a ride outta town. She was asking around for a nicer place to stay. And I heard she found some new friends out there who taught her how to kill the pain for a while, if just for the night. I think we saw there was nothing left to save. We grew up and away from all the promises we made to pack up the car and run from a deadly summer sun, and settle in California and never come back down. And I heard she found some new friends out there who taught her how to kill the pain for a while. She found an apartment in a bad part of the city. She said, "It's not much to come home to, but it's not much to leave behind." She's smoking a cigarette out behind the bar. And now she's touching his chest in the parking lot, and they're pressed up against his car. Well there's a better part of her out there and she said she needs to find it. It's buried out in the mountains and not in my arms anymore.

In our wild and reckless teenage summer nights, honey, we owned this town with high beams shining up our backs. We were gonna take to the streets and run to California. I was gonna marry you and never let you down. Looking back we could've done a few things better 'cause we cut ourselves up far too many times. And my heart went off like the end of the Fourth of July on the night you said you fell into his arms. I'da bought you every light in New York City. I'd a stolen every last star from the sky. But we lost our love at sixteen and now I don't know where to find you— maybe in some stranger's car, trying just to make it through the night. There were nights, honey, I swear I nearly died. You had me tearing myself apart on the kitchen floor. And I was bleeding out of every vein exposed, painting all the tiles from white to red. I'da bought you every light in New York City. I'd a stolen every last star from the sky. But we lost our love at sixteen and now I don't know where to find you— in the back seat of a stranger's car, trying to find yourself a better life. How will we get to California now?
